Attic insulation and ductwork share the same space, so they share the same problems. Insulation that has been in place since the seventies has compacted to a fraction of its original R-value, and in this valley it has also absorbed decades of dust and several seasons of wildfire smoke. Rodent contamination is extremely common in the older housing stock across Carmichael, Arden-Arcade and the Sacramento grid, and once it is present the material needs to come out rather than be topped up. Since a Sacramento attic regularly exceeds 140 degrees in summer, insulation that has flattened out is costing real money every cooling season. If we are already working in your attic on ductwork, this is the cheapest time to deal with it.
If you are not satisfied with the result, we come back and make it right at no charge.
Benefits
Rodent-contaminated or smoke-loaded material is bagged and taken out. Blowing new insulation on top of it seals the problem in.
Material is vacuumed into sealed bags and routed out of the house without being carried through the living space loose.
The attic deck is treated once the old material is out and before anything new goes down.
New material is installed to current recommended values rather than matching whatever was there in 1974.
Doing this alongside duct repair or replacement means one attic access, one set-up, and no new insulation disturbed a month later.
Gaps around penetrations are sealed before insulating, because insulation over an unsealed ceiling plane underperforms.

Process
Depth, condition and contamination are assessed and photographed, and we confirm whether removal is genuinely needed.
Access is sealed off from the living space and the removal route is protected before anything is disturbed.
Old material is vacuumed into sealed bags and removed from the property rather than pushed aside.
The exposed attic floor is cleaned and treated, which is only possible while the material is out.
Gaps around fixtures, top plates and duct penetrations are sealed so the new insulation performs as rated.
New material is installed to an even, measured depth and the finished depth is documented.
Questions
Sometimes, if the existing material is clean, dry and simply thin. If there is rodent contamination, smoke loading or moisture damage, topping up seals the problem in and we will not do it.
No. The work area is contained and the removal route is protected. Most homeowners stay home, though the attic access area is off limits for the day.
If both are needed, yes. One attic set-up covers both, and it avoids disturbing brand new insulation to get at ductwork a month later.
A typical single-story Sacramento home is one to two days depending on square footage, attic access and how much material has to come out.
