Land Park bungalow with original crawlspace ducting. They found two joints that had come apart completely and showed me the photos before doing anything. The back bedroom is finally usable in summer.

Dryer Vent Cleaning for Sacramento homes
Sacramento is our home base, and no two jobs here look alike because the housing stock changes completely from one grid square to the next. A Curtis Park bungalow, a Land Park Tudor, an East Sacramento colonial and a Pocket ranch from the seventies were all built to different assumptions about how air moves through a house. The older central neighbourhoods were built long before forced air was standard, so their systems were retrofitted decades later, often by running trunks through a crawlspace that was never designed to carry them. Natomas is the opposite case entirely, with nineties and two-thousands construction where flex duct runs through an attic that bakes all summer. What all of them share is the valley itself: a long cooling season from May to October, fine dust carried in on the Delta breeze, and the smoke that settles into every return in the city during a bad fire year.
Central grid homes frequently have retrofitted crawlspace trunks with cloth-taped joints that dried out and released years ago, which is why one room in a Land Park house is often noticeably warmer than the rest. Pocket and Greenhaven tracts from the seventies tend to have undersized single returns, and the Natomas builds have attic flex that sags between supports.

Process
How the visit works
Inspect the run
We locate the routing, measure the length, count the elbows and check the exterior termination before starting.
Pull the dryer and disconnect
The dryer is moved out and disconnected so the run can be worked from the correct end.
Rotary brush the full length
A powered brush is fed the entire distance while the vacuum runs, breaking loose packed lint rather than compacting it.
Clear the exterior hood
The termination is cleared, and a flap that no longer seals or opens is flagged or replaced.
Clean behind and under the dryer
The lint that has collected behind the machine and around the trap housing is removed while access is open.
Reconnect and airflow test
The dryer is reconnected, the joint is sealed properly and airflow at the hood is measured and reported.

Questions
FAQs
Do you work in the older central neighbourhoods?
Constantly. Land Park, Curtis Park and East Sacramento are a large share of our work. Crawlspace access in those homes is tight and the original joints are usually the problem, so we bring the shorter hose runs and expect to find sealing work alongside the cleaning.
How does wildfire smoke affect my ducts?
Fine smoke particulate gets pulled through the return and settles along the full length of the system, then recirculates for months afterwards. After a heavy smoke season we see a clear jump in Sacramento homes where the smell only appears when the air handler starts.
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
Once a year for a typical household. Every six months if you have a large family, dry a lot of pet bedding, or have a long upstairs run with multiple elbows.
My laundry is upstairs — is that a problem?
It is the configuration most likely to need regular attention. A vertical run with elbows collects lint faster than a short horizontal one, and it is also the hardest to reach without the right equipment.
